The week of September 12, I attended the CTIA Super Mobility Conference in Las Vegas. I have to admit that I usually approach these shows with a lot of skepticism as to their worth and this time was no different. Unlike many shows I attend, I came away from CTIA with a different opinion from when I arrived. This show focused on 5G which will bring improvements to all aspects of wireless and transform many industries. These industries include energy, transportation, medicine and smart technology. I listened to speakers from Verizon, AT&T, Nokia and even Mark Cuban who made billions in technology and now is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. All of the speakers had a common theme and that was excitement. With the advent of 5G or IOT (Internet of things), our world is going to be transformed virtually, overnight. From the most critical areas like telemedicine and energy to mundane things like controlling the temperature of your refrigerator or turning on the sprinklers in your yard, our ability to control our time and reduce our costs will improve. I have been talking about 5G for some time now and the closer we get to it, the more fascinating it becomes. Very soon, smart buildings, smart cars and entire smart communities will be the norm. I encourage everyone to get engaged and participate in this phenomenon. It presents endless possibilities in both our professional and personal lives. Stay tuned!
